46th Tour de Hongrie: Historic Cycling Race Returns to Its Roots
The 2025 Tour de Hongrie, celebrating its 100th anniversary, will kick off on May 14 from Budapest's Szent Gellért Square—just as it did in its inaugural edition in 1925. The race will conclude on May 18 at the iconic Esztergom Basilica.
Race Overview This year's event features five stages covering 885 km, with three flat stages, one mountainous stage, and one transition stage. Riders will face 13 intermediate sprints and ten categorized climbs, including the first-category ascent to Kékestető, Hungary’s highest peak. The total elevation gain exceeds 7,000 meters. The race will traverse nine counties and 101 towns, showcasing Hungary’s scenic landscapes.
